The temple of Somanadaswami has a mandapa in its entrance, which has been carved like a chariot with wheels and drawn by horses. The horse strains, as it has to draw a granite chariot. An elephant too is seen near the balustrade with men on its back goading it. Pazhayarai comprised four suburbs, Vadathali, Kizhtali, Thentali and Mertali. The last two have vanished. The samadhi of Sivaprakasar is near Vadatali. Dharmapurisvarar is the Lord’s name. The goddess is Vimalanayaki as she was worshipped by Vimali, the daughter of Kamadhenu
