The new moon day that falls on a Saturday in the Hindu calendar is known as Sani Amavasai. 06th of November 2010 happens to be a Sani Amavasai. People suffering from several doshams like pitra dosham, kala sarpa dosham conduct remedial Poojas on this day. Tharpan is also performed for ancestors on this day.

On this day several devotees visit Thirunallar Sanneswara Bhagawan Temple to seek blessings and forgiveness. Worshipping lord Sani on this day, it is believed that it would appease him and remove all obstacles.

Sani Amavasai is a very favourable and rare day to please Lord Shani.
